Muchkund cave is a major religious and ancient tourist place in Lalitpur district. This cave is situated at a distance of about 3 kilometers from Ranchhod ji temple and the whole way is full of forest. This cave is situated inside a dense forest near Ranchod Temple. This place is covered by dense forest and mountains.

Trekking is required to reach this cave. There is a dense forest here and the way to go to the cave is completely raw. If you go here for a walk, then you must take water and food here because there is no arrangement there.

A legend is famous because of this cave. It is said about this cave that that Shri Krishna was fighting with the demon Kalayavan. While fighting with Kalayavan, Shri Krishna started running away from the battlefield, then Kalayavan started running after Shri Krishna. Shri Krishna ji was running away from the battlefield and Kalayavan was following Shri Krishna ji. Shri Krishna ji hid in the cave. Muchkund Rishi was sleeping in this cave in a deep sleep. Lord Shri Krishna put his Pitambar on Muchkund Rishi and hid. Kalayavan demon came and started misbehaving with sage Muchkund, due to which sage Muchkund's eyes opened and burning light fell on Kalayavan demon and Kalayavan demon was burnt to death.

This place is known as Muchkund Rishi and Sage Muchkund had a boon that he would wake up from sleep and whoever he looked at would get burnt.

There is a lake at the foot of this hill. The lake near the fort is known as Mansarovar. In this temple one can see the idol of Shankar ji. This statue is wonderful. In this statue three faces of Shankar ji are seen, hence this statue is known as Trimurti Shiva statue. This idol has idols of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma.
